PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: CHINA: Willamette's Summer Study is the oldest such law program in China. Located in Shanghai, it has served as the model for other programs in Shanghai and Beijing. The host school, the East China University of Politics and Law, is China's premier institution in the burgeoning fields of trade and investment. ECUADOR: A second-semester study program in Quito, Ecuador for two second or third-year students. Will provide participants with an intensive concentration on fundamentals of a civil law system and Latin American legal institutions. Participants take up to twelve hours of law courses in Spanish at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador. GERMANY This is the only ABA-approved program for legal instruction at a private law school on the continent of Europe. Bucerius was modeled, in part, on American-style law schools. Courses are offered in English and German.
