REQUIREMENTS: Ages: 15 to 30 depending on the program length.
No GPA requirement for summer programs . 2.8 GPA for year and semester programs.
Application deadlines vary depending on program. March 31-June3 for summer departure, November for winter departure.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: AFS, formerly the American Field Service founded in 1947, is a community and volunteer-based organization that sponsors exchanges for high school students and adults. The program emphasizes international learning and understanding through a homestay, community and school involvement. Exchanges vary from 3 weeks to 11 months, depending on type of program. AFS operates in over 50 countries. Financial aid is available, based on need.
